We caught up with Tom Workman, MS, CasP, CHT-A who was passing through our town (North Palm Beach, Florida) on business. He serves as the UHMS Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Tom is best known throughout the hyperbaric medical community for his work with the UHMS Clinical Hyperbaric Facility Accreditation Survey program. The UHMS Accreditation Survey Program is a professional, comprehensive clinical hyperbaric facility accreditation program. The program evaluates the adequacy of a hyperbaric facility and their equipment, the appropriateness of the staff and their training, quality of care and patient safety. The UHMS has accredited over 190 facilities in the United States.

While talking with Tom, we asked him what books he considers essential for every hyperbaric clinic and practitioner to have in their hyperbaric medical reference library. These three books are foundational to the practice of hyperbaric medicine. Even if you have one, get the other two and complete your fundamental library set. If you don't already have "Tom's top three" recommendations, you can order them right now as a package set.
