Beneath the Surface: Discovering the World of Wreck Heaven
Introducing Wreck Heaven: Shipwrecks of the Caribbean
You've seen it from the boat: a shadow on the sand, a mast rising toward the light. The crew calls out the site name, you roll in, and minutes later you're hovering over a ship with a story nobody told you.
Wreck Heaven: Shipwrecks of the Caribbean changes that. Written and photographed by veteran wreck diver Jason Giannaras, this full-color, 8.5 x 11 dive guide covers 13 islands, more than 70 dive sites and over 100 wrecks, with more than 230 photographs. It gives you the history of every ship and exactly what to expect when you drop in.
Five Years, 125 Dives, 13 Islands
Wreck Heaven began as a suggestion from a fellow diver who saw Jason's love of shipwreck photography. Jason took him up on it. Over the next five years he logged 125 dives across 13 islands, from Aruba and the Bahamas to Grenada, Roatán and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The project ran straight through the COVID-19 pandemic, when island borders closed for months and in some cases years. Some wrecks took one dive to capture. Others needed repeat visits because of weather or poor visibility. Along the way, local dive shop owners shared the knowledge that fills in the history of many sites.
"The goal here is to show scuba divers, from novice to advanced, the best shipwrecks to dive in the Caribbean. A few of the wreck sites are not on any chart and are dived by very few shops. It was a real treat to see and document wrecks that were almost forgotten." — Jason Giannaras

Whether you dive or not, this book belongs on your shelf.

- Trip planners: use it as your checklist for where to go and which wrecks to book before you fly.
- Novice to advanced divers: sites range from 15-foot shore dives to deep wrecks on the wall, with the skill level marked for each.
- Dedicated wreck divers: know the ship's story before you drop in, instead of hearing it in a boat briefing.

- Dive shops and instructors: a handsome reference for the shop counter, classroom or liveaboard salon.
For non-divers

What Divers Are Saying
"When you are off on these trips and diving these sites, there is little information available about the wrecks you are diving… Jason has captured amazing photos of all these wrecks and provided detail on each. If you are dreaming of Caribbean diving, or are a veteran diver of the region, this book is for you." — Jared Bronson, Technical Diver and Assistant Instructor, Horizon Divers, Key Largo, Florida (from the Foreword)
About the Author
Jason Giannaras has been diving for more than 25 years and has seen over 150 shipwrecks around the world. His passion has taken him to the Red Sea, Truk Lagoon, Palau, Long Island Sound, the St. Lawrence River and the Caribbean.
His fascination with shipwrecks began as a child with the discovery of the Titanic. Ever since, as long as he had his camera, he has photographed every shipwreck with a story. Jason believes shipwrecks are everywhere and should not be forgotten, and Wreck Heaven is his tribute to the Caribbean's best.
